the Artist behind Creo.

Hello! I’m Caroline, the artist behind Creo Studio Jewelry.

From a very young age, I was stealing my mother’s jewelry (thanks, Mom). I have always loved wearing jewelry. I have always loved design and making things. But as many things in life go, my path was somewhat circuitous. It took me 2 degrees and many years of working in various fields to finally discover jewelry making. That was over 10 years a go.

At 18, I wanted to be a painter. I reluctantly stumbled into the sculpture studio in my first year at college and fell (hard) in love with metal. I graduated with a degree in Fine Art with an emphasis in sculpture and began working under the wing of some great Seattle sculptors including Ted Jonsson, Trimpin & Lynda Rockwood. After working for several years in the Seattle arts industry as a public art fabricator, I decided to try my hand at architecture and received my Master of Architecture in 2010.

And that’s when it hit me. 2 degrees later. I wanted to make jewelry. Jewelry fabrication was the perfect marriage of my interests in metal, making and design. I enrolled in a class at Pratt Fine Arts Center in Seattle and I have been learning and making jewelry ever since.

I recently made the switch to making jewelry full time (as full time as being a mom to a 5 year old will allow). Occasionally, I join my husband in the metal shop to make larger scaled metalwork (of course I had to marry someone that loved metal as much as I do: Metalworks & Design LLC.)

Creo means both ‘to make’ and ‘to believe’. Creo Studio Jewelry was born of my passion for design and making.
